Intercultural Day

On Friday we celebrated Intercultural Day. Intercultural Day is a day where we celebrate lots of different countries. Every class had to pick a food from a different country and show how that food comes to our supermarkets in Clondalkin.

The boys and girls in Junior Infants picked strawberries from Ireland.

We looked at the strawberry plant. Ms. Kelly brought it in from her garden.

We tasted strawberries. Most of us love the taste of them!

We learned how strawberries grow on farms.
Some strawberries come from Co. Wexford which is quite far away. It would take over an hour to get from Clondalkin to Wexford in the car.

The farmer sends the strawberries to the factory. The factory sorts the strawberries into punnets. They put the punnets into crates. They put the crates into the lorry. The lorry delivers the strawberries to the supermarkets. Then we can buy the strawberries in the supermarkets.

Here is our project.

We also had the chance to see the other projects made by all the classes in Scoil Mhuire.
