All About Animals

We have had animals on our minds all week!

We read the story Noah's Ark. God told Noah to build an Ark so he would be safe during the flood. He told Noah to out two of every animal on the boat. Do you now see why we painted two of each animal last week? Have a look at this super display outside our classroom.

We listened and sang along to the song The Animals Went in Two by Two.

We also read the story How To Hide A Lion. It's a very funny story. We drew the lion in the story. Didn't we do a great job?

We have learned two new animal songs this week; One Elephant Went Out To Play and I Am A Terrible Tiger.

One boy brought in a tiger teddy bear. We sang the song where the boys pretended to be the tigers and the girls pretended to be the hunters.

We painted farm animals this week. Some of us painted farm scenes while others picked one or two animals to paint. Teacher says we are fantastic artists.

We had to sort animals into where they live for our cutting activity in the morning. We cut out the animals and stuck them either in the forest, desert, sea or polar regions.

We played Animal Homes in class on the Interactive Whiteboard. We had to match the animal to where they live. Click the picture to play.

We learned a little about the elephant this week. The elephant is the biggest animal that lives on the land. He is grey and heavy. He has a long nose called a trunk. He can suck up water through his trunk and then he squirts the water into his mouth to drink. He has two tusks that grow from his mouth. They are very big teeth. He has large floppy ears. Elephants eat plants.

We say this elephant rhyme.

An elephant goes like this and that,
He's really big,
And really fat.
He has no fingers,
And has no toes,
But goodness gracious,
What a long nose!

We listened to this silly song.

Writing

We got new copies this week. These copies have lines on the pages!
We did a lot of writing this week. Have a look at some of our writing. We are trying to remember to sit our letters on the line. We also do our best to remember that we put a finger space between words when we are writing sentences. We are certainly improving!

Number 4

We were writing the number four this week.

We say this rhyme.

Down and over
And down some more
That's the way
To make a four.

We made sets of four in our copies.
