Every Wednesday for half an hour we get a visit from a very special lady. Catherine from Magic of Music comes into our class and we have so much fun. We listen to music, we dance to music, we make music with our bodies and we use instruments. We have had three classes so far and we absolutely love the classes!
We learned the words piano and forte. These are Italian words. Piano means soft or quiet while forte means strong or loud. We listened to The Overture of William Tell. When the music was soft i.e. piano we hid behind our chairs and when the music was loud i.e. forte we hopped on our horses and galloped!
We made a rainstorm with our bodies. First we rubbed our hands together, then we slapped our legs, next we clapped hands and finally we stamped our feet. To stop the storm we moved from stamping feet, to clapping hands, to slapping legs to rubbing hands! Catherine then gave us the instruments and we made a storm with the instruments.
We listened to excerpts from Carnival of the Animals. We had to listen to a piece and then guess what animal the music is portraying. We were really good at it. We guessed swan, kangaroo, elephant and lion. We got every answer right!
We listened to music and danced like lions!
