On Thursday and Friday Neil came to our school. He took each class for a drumming workshop. We had our class on Thursday morning. It was so much fun.
We had a chance to use lots of different drums: big drums, medium sized drums, small drums and drums with sticks. We tried agogo bells, a scraper and a wood block too. We clapped out some rhythms and then we tried them out using the instruments.
Neil picked out some of us to act as composers. We held our hands up for loud drumming, we held our hands low for quiet drumming and we jumped and crossed our hands to stop the music.
When we got back to the classroom we drew the drums in our copies and wrote the word drum. Have a look at some of our work.
PE
Lonely
We talked about feeling lonely this week. We don't like feeling lonely. We don't want our friends to feel lonely. We thought of simple rules we can follow so no-one in our class feels lonely. We drew pictures of ourselves and made a class mural.
World Book Day
Thursday was World Book Day. Teacher put different books on our tables. We had ten minutes to pick out one or more books to read.
Teacher also read Peace At Last. We made the sound effects as they came up in the story. You can listen to the story here.
Writing
We learned to write the letter n this week.
You start at the top and go straight down to the line, you go back up, near the top and bend it over and straight down with a kick.
Pancake Tuesday
We said a pancake rhyme.
Mix a pancake
Stir a pancake
Put it in the pan
Fry a pancake
Toss a pancake
Catch it if you can!
Sets of Shoes
We made sets of different types of shoes during our math stations. We coloured and cut out the shoe, the high heel, the boot and the slipper and stuck them on different pages to make sets.
Number 2
We are learning to write the number two. We say this rhyme.
Number 2 go right around
Then make a line across the ground.
