This week we learned a lot about the garda. We learned where they work, what they use for travelling and the different ways they help us. We drew super pictures of the garda. Have a look.
Some pictures of the garda, the doctor and the firefighter are up on the wall while the others are made into books for our library.
We did a worksheet where we had to match each person to what they use in their job.
We also made a chart showing what job we would like when we grow up. It was hard to decide which to pick. Which job was the most popular?
The teacher was the most popular job! We will be fantastic teachers when we grow up.
PE
In PE this week we used beanbags. We balanced the beanbags on different parts of our bodies. We practiced moving our bodies slowly while balancing a beanbag!
We threw beanbags into targets. We had to throw into the yellow hoop. Next we threw into the green hoop which was a little further away and finally we threw the beanbag into the blue hoop which was the furthest away. It took a few tries to get the beanbag into the blue hoop.
Playtime
We continued our doctor's surgery this week during playtime. We painted. We built with blocks. We made jigsaws. We used the writing box.
Here are our paintings. We are getting so good at cleaning our brushes before changing colour. Teacher is very proud of us.
We played with a new toy during playtime. They are called hexi-snaps. They have six sides and fit in to each other. We had great fun making shapes with the hexi-snaps.
Scared
We talked about feeling scared this week. We read a story about three children who felt scared, We talked about the different things that make us feel scared. We talked about how we could make ourselves feel better when we feel scared. We could talk to someone we love and trust.
We drew pictures of the things that make us feel scared. Here are some pictures we drew.
We made a book to put in our library of all the things that make us feel scared.
Writing
We learned to write the letter d this week.
Start at the dot and go all around like a c, close it, go up, up, up and straight down with a kick.
Small and Big
In our maths copies this week we drew small things on one page and big things on another page. We had great ideas. We also tried writing the words small and big. We worked really hard and did a great job.
Math Stations
We are still using our math stations everyday for half an hour.
Here we are at work. We are making patterns with the camels. We connect three together; one big, one medium and one small. We are playing a dice game to make sets. A child rolls the dice. They tell us the number it lands on and then they call out the colour. In the picture below we have to make a set of four purple. We are continuing with our math jigsaws and are getting very good at them.
We are still using the mosaic pegs. During the week we tried to make a house. Have a look at our wonderful work. We are getting very good using these pegs. We will continue making a house next week.
We learned another counting song - This Old Man
We had another great week in school!
